- ¼ cup oil
- 1 pound stew meat
- 2 small onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 5 cups water
- ¼ cup paprika
- 2 teaspoons marjoram
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 2 parsnips, peeled and chopped
- 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 red pepper, diced
Procedure for Cooking Hungarian Goulash
Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the beef and cook until its brown on all sides. Salt and pepper it well. Add the onions and garlic, and cook them until they’re soft. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer for one hour, or until the meat and vegetables are very tender. Serve with crusty bread.
