Robert Boyle was one of the most influential chemists of the 17th century. He is best known for his work resulting in Boyle’s Law. It is summarized as PV=K where the letter P is ‘pressure’ V is ‘volume’ and K is ‘constant’. This law states that the amount of space gas takes up will decrease when pressure is applied.
He became popular for theological writings. Boyle recognized the elements as indecomposable elements of the material. He also gave a theory that elements are composed of various particles of various sizes and types that cannot be estranged in any way.
