Guatemala Q&A

Question: Are children affected by the wars?

Answer: During the last civil war in Guatemala, 200,000 children were orphaned. Many of these children left their villages and traveled to Guatemala City to get jobs. Today, children still leave their homes because they are abused and hungry. They live on the streets in Guatemala City. Many sell trash or beg for food. Several organizations have built schools to take care of these children.
