The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. It is undoubtedly one of the most famous buildings in the world. Initially, it was known as Executive Mansion, the President’s House and the President’s Palace.
President Theodore Roosevelt made the name White House official in 1901. This 55,000 square foot Presidential palace has a total of 132 rooms. It was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in the 1790s. His model was based on a villa in Dublin, called Leinster House, which is still used as a government building in Ireland.
