Amazon River is the second longest river in the world after the Nile River. The total length of this river is approximately 6,400 kilometers. It is located in South America and runs through Guyana, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Columbia. The largest city along this river is Manaus, located in Brazil. It is home to more than 1.7 million people. The Amazon ecosystem is often described as a rich one and its rainforest is one of the most expansive rainforests in the entire world. This river supplies the earth with 20% of its freshwater supply.
